Updated: Jul 2

In today’s time, things are so much different than how they used to be. Things have become much more advanced and complicated. Everyone has to work so much harder with so little time during the day. Everything is so expensive, which makes it harder to get the things that you want. And there is so much violence always going on everywhere, that you can barely ever feel safe doing anything or going out.

So when you have all these different things to think about on a daily basis, you begin to ask yourself what should I do? How can you stay focused on your goals and dreams when there is such much heartache being caused from this world? How do you stay motivated and driven when there are constantly negative obstacles popping up that hold you back?

Well today is your lucky day! I am going to give you 15 Tips/Suggestions on things that you can do in order to stay motivated in life.

It's important to STAY STRONG and keep momentum RISING.

Here are 15 Tips to Stay Motivated in Your Everyday Life.

Tip #1 - Surround yourself with positive people. Surrounding yourself with positive people, helps to brighten up the atmosphere. When there are good people around you, that also means that there are good ideas, positive conversation, happy thoughts, and many more positive things that can lead to you having a more positive mindset. When you have positive people around you, those people are also the ones who are most likely to help keep you motivated and assist you in staying accountable.

Tip #2 - Get advice from your mentors and role models. When times get hard or you find yourself not knowing what to do or where to go, think about your role models. The people that you have looked up to in life, have a great way of leading you to remember what the best choices are in life. And if you have never experienced that, its okay! You can still find a mentor or someone that you can find trustworthy to look up to in your times of need. This is always good to have because mentors and role models assist in giving guidance in the times that we can’t think clearly, or don’t know what to do.

Tip #3 - Join some Social Groups or Support Groups. Sometimes when you find it hard to stay determined or find it difficult to motivate yourself, I have found that Social Groups and Support Groups can be a huge help towards helping you get back on track. Social Groups and Support Groups are helpful because they are filled with many people that are going through their own hardships in life. Being around a group of people that are going through tough times allows you the ability to see how they respond to the hardship; it also allows you the ability to be around a source of motivation and support created from the group itself. This can also be a great place to reach out to those in the group for advice if you are ever confused about what you should do in a particular situation. When you feel supported and receive positive advice, this could be the perfect recipe for gaining motivation. So don’t forget about those Support Groups!

Tip #4 - Think about your life goals. Another tip that can help you stay motivated is to constantly think about your life goals. Yes that’s right we all have goals and desires that we are working towards in our life, so remember the things that you are working towards and fighting hard for. Review your goals on a regular basis so that you can see your progress; this helps to keep you pushing towards the completion of your goal. When you constantly remind yourself “I need to keep going”, you give yourself a strong reason to not stop because you will realize that every day you are getting closer to achieving your goal. Regularly reviewing your progress helps to improve your self esteem because you are showing yourself that you can do this and you are seeing the evidence of your hard work and progression in real time.

Tip #5 - Think about your accomplishments. Sometimes a very good motivator can be simply thinking about all that you have accomplished so far in your life. This could be graduating highschool or college, this could be making it through a recession, this could be having the pleasure to have gone out of the state or country on vacation. You may feel accomplished for successfully learning a new skill, or for being able to drive on the all too crazy interstate without experiencing any accidents! Sometimes we get so tied up with the struggles of this world and what we can’t do, that we become blind to the things that we have already done successfully. Each person in this world has a unique skill so always remember the things that you have accomplished with that skill.

Don't forget to be happy about your personal accomplishments.

Tip #6 - Identify and organize your responsibilities. This helps you understand what all is required from you. Knowing all you have to do, makes it easier to develop a plan to accomplish your tasks. If you list everything out in front of you, it gives you the ability to organize your day in a way that allows you to get everything completed in much better timing. You may find it better to fold the three piles of clothes you’ve been avoiding, early in the morning when you have the most energy. It’s always better to get the harder tasks out the way first, and save things like sweeping or taking the trash out, as the last few tasks of the day. This will give you a sense of accomplishment and drive because now that you know all that you have to do, you can JUST DO IT!

Tip #7 - Become more time efficient. Sometimes you may find yourself all over the place each day because you have SO MANY things to do, and SO LITTLE time to do them. Oftentimes we may even find ourselves not able to complete all of our tasks in a single day. One resolution to this is to become more time efficient. There are a couple of ways to establish time efficiency in your life. One way is to get rid of the tasks that aren’t REQUIRED to be done before going to bed. If you eliminate a few insignificant tasks that don’t have to be done right here and now, you will find yourself with a lot more time to tend to your most important responsibilities. Another resolution is to set time limits for everything you have to do. Study for that big exam for 1 hour, and then take 30 minutes to tidy up the kitchen. Setting time limits help you to stay on track and get more done in a day.

Tip #8 - Keep your momentum up. If you realize that you have had a successful day or completed a major goal, use that excitement and drive to keep pushing towards your other goals. It is always helpful to capitalize off of your momentum because you can end up completing A LOT of your to-do list. Doing this can also help things feel more automatic over time. If you start the day off with a nice workout, use that burst of energy afterwards to knock out a few hard tasks for the day. Then after that high driving energy is gone, you will see that you only have the small things left to do. KEEP YOUR MOMENTUM UP AT ALL TIMES!

Tip #9 - Make things fun. Having a full day's worth of responsibilities can get long, tiring, and last but not least … BORING. And obviously when things feel tiring and boring there’s almost no room for motivation. One thing you can do to change this is MAKE THINGS FUN! Get creative and come up with small things that can make your day a bit more fun. Throw a small game of trashketball in your routine as you're cleaning up the house. When you need to meal-prep your meals for tomorrow, use your spoon or spatula to audition for American Idol at the same time. Like I said, just be creative and come up with little games that might make your day more fun and more enlightening. Doing this will give you a bit of energy and take the pressure off, allowing you the motivation and drive you need to keep things rolling.

Tip #10 Do more exercise. Exercise has always been a very important attribute with our health. When you exercise you get your blood circulating in your body and in your brain. Also exercise helps to promote the production of hormones, serotonin, and norepinephrine, which are things that can ultimately help relieve the feeling of stress and depression. This helps to increase your energy and your focus while thinking. With an increase in energy and focus, you can get more accomplished in your day. When you can get a lot accomplished with low stress and high energy, this creates the perfect recipe for positive vibes and endless motivation!

Tip #11 Take a moment to meditate. Now we all know that sometimes our lives can get so hectic and our head can feel like it's going to explode from stress and pressure. Well meditating is a technique you can use to establish peace and calmness. When you take a moment to just close your eyes, and just breathe slowly while listening to the sounds of the world around you, it can truly do some therapeutic justice! Being able to stop and meditate during the day really helps clear your mind from all the overloads and all the built up pressure from your responsibilities. After meditating, you will find that you have more energy and motivation to continue pushing through and accomplishing all your goals.

Tip #12 Fix your sleep schedule. We HAVE to get our rest! Lost sleep could be the leading cause of someone losing motivation in something. Why wouldn’t you? YOU’RE TIRED. Ensuring that you are getting to bed on a specific schedule helps you get your full rest and helps your body fully restore its energy. When you get your 8-10 hours of sleep in a night, you will wake up with more energy in your body and a more focused mindset. This alone will boost your motivation and your determination to go out and achieve your goals. It is hard to keep pushing on when you are tired and need rest, so eliminate the problem by getting your rest.

Tip #13 Keep a healthy diet. I know many of us love our food. Pasta, wings, fries, cake, all of which are super delicious. Although it is very hard to turn down a nice large plate of our FAVORITE foods, it is very important to keep a healthy diet when looking for more drive and motivation. A healthy diet can help us think more clearly and improve alertness. Making sure you are eating healthy will also improve your ability to concentrate and improve your attention span. When we have an unhealthy diet, it can lead to less energy, and increased risk of cancer, high blood pressure, and more. All of which are obstacles to you achieving your goals. When you eat healthier and add more fruits and vegetables to your diet, you will find that you have much more energy and a showering glow of happiness and peace; that which can fuel you motivation leading to more execution on completing your goals.

Tip #14 Remember how things could be worse. Be mindful that things could be much harder for you and that there are some individuals who experience a harsher quality of life than you. Be grateful and thankful for the positive things that you have, even be grateful for the negative things because those things took part in making you stronger. Look at your surroundings and think about how you would feel if you didn’t have anything? I know we don’t typically like to think about things from a negative perspective, but sometimes this helps motivate me because I realize that I have a lot to be happy about. This can increase your motivation because thinking about how things COULD be harder, makes you realize that things aren’t actually as bad as you think they are. And once you understand that, you have more strength to keep marching forward.

Tip #15 Always Do More. The last key I have on staying motivated, is to always remember that no matter what, you have the ability to do more and grow. When you accomplish one dream or goal, you shouldn’t stop the train. The more you accomplish, the more your happiness from success will grow. It can be a great thing to use the momentum from accomplishing something to go and accomplish more. This will give you less opportunities to feel sad or depressed about the things we go through in life, because the dreams that we get to experience will make everyday seem WORTH IT. So no matter what, always work to achieve new goals and accomplishments; and don’t forget to use your momentum to keep pursuing your dreams.
